CAIRN

CAIRN, or the Crisis and Intervention Response Network, is a conceptual framework for a semi-autonomous humanoid robot designed for disaster response. In the critical hours following a catastrophic event like an earthquake or structural collapse, CAIRN acts as a resilient extension of human rescue teams. It is engineered to enter and map unstable environments, locate survivors, assess hazards, and deliver critical first-line aid, all while keeping human responders out of the most immediate danger.

A human operator provides high-level objectives—"map this sector," "investigate that heat signature"—while CAIRN's onboard AI handles the complex tasks of navigation, balance, and obstacle avoidance over treacherous terrain.
